The purpose of this blog...

This is just for myself to write down my thoughts on this subject as well as those related to it. As my profile says, I'm a complex person but I love the simple life. That is what I am trying to do...live simply, healthy, green friendly, etc. I was always drawn to this kind of life which I find many others are as well. Throughout my life since I was a child, I was drawn to things that was like the simple life through pictures, stories, etc. and with the internet now, I can get more wonderful ideas and inspirations which I will mention over time on my blog here. Now, I'm not that creative or can come up with my own awesome ideas all the time but I will share a few of my own and others that I found from other people. I decided the title of this because of a site I had stumbled upon many years ago. I tried to google it and look for it but alas, it was probably deleted or just simply lost out there in cyber space. But I was so inspired by it. This woman has over time, made her home more like that of a home in the medieval times. Nothing too major but small things like: *use of "green" cleaners *not using anything plastic *clothing to be made out of certain materials *furniture made of real wood or wrought iron, etc. These are but a few things that was written down on the list of things she suggested. So I have been doing my best to get rid of things not really used many years ago. One thing I did was get rid of the drapes we had and put up velvet curtains lined with linen. I found them to be wonderful! Not only do they keep the light out so well but the keep the house cool in summer (open curtains and windows at night and close them during the day) but helps keep the warm air inside and the cold air out in winter. We had a dreadful time with ice building up inside but with these curtains I've not had a problem with ice at all. I was fortunate enough to find a good deal on them when the fabric store was closing. One panel cost about $75.00 but the price went down to $25.00! I grabbed 4 panels and I'm so glad I did. It was a price I couldn't turn down.
